Toddlers (18 months up to 30 months)

Let’s start running! Your toddler is definitely on the move and ready to explore.

Toddlers are walking, running and starting to explore the world around them. Our toddler room provides the perfect place for growing bodies to safely explore and discover their world. Our program introduces your toddler to a world of learning, sharing and exploring, encouraging growth as physical, intellectual, communicative, creative and social. We balance learning with exercise, personal development, values and goals. It is designed to help your child be prepared to learn basics such as letters, numbers, colors, shapes and vocabulary words. At Toronto Woods Daycare, we have caring, intuitive and knowledgeable staff that will guide your toddlers through this exciting stage. We focus on the following areas that will give your child endless opportunities to learn and grow.

Preschool (30 months up to 5 years)

Let’s play! Your preschooler’s inquisitive mind is ready for the next challenge!

As your child grows older, they become more and more curious. As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they feel ready to take on the world. Children are free to be anything from an artist to an engineer. It’s that natural sense of curiosity that we at Toronto Woods Daycare use to teach them to learn and grow.

Our home-like classrooms are divided into general interest areas that meet children’s need to move, explore and express and relax. On a daily basis we do large and small group activities to emphasize as to how important it is to relate to others.

Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children develop a variety of skills and knowledge in areas like early literacy, mathematics, science, French and social skills. We offer a variety of activities with our main focus on the six main areas of development giving your child endless opportunities to learn and grow.

  • Language and Literacy

  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills

  • Dramatic play

  • Cognitive Development

  • Sensory development

  • Socially and Emotional Development

Our Early Foundations Preschool Program

Our Early Foundations Preschool Program encourages children’s natural curiosity and willingness to try new things, so children discover the ways that they learn best. So in addition to basic skills, your child learns about self-direction, self-reliance and self-esteem.

  • Children play and work to learn language, social skills, pre-math concepts, pre-reading concepts and concepts about the physical world.

  • Our classrooms create a stimulating environment where children can develop these concepts and incorporate them into language, science, math and social skills.

  • Group play, circle time and our outdoor play facility will also encourage social and emotional development for your child, giving them the ability to interact with others.

  • Age appropriate stories are read throughout the day by our enthusiastic staff and we ensure that our daily reading programs will help enrich your child’s language skills. To add excitement to the concept of reading, we encourage children to choose their favorite stories from an array of books in our library.

  • Outdoor playtime which is another main focus in your child’s development will improve gross motor skills for your child, as regular physical activity is proven to be essential for proper development.

  • Through large groups and small, individualized instruction, your child will work on early literacy and math skills daily.

  • Our experienced Early Child Educators create a warm and nurturing environment giving your child the confidence they need to explore and develop at their own individual pace while still providing an academically enriched program.

  • We also include basic French language, music for children, weekly baking and yoga for kids.
